Rediscovering Your Lens: A Journey to Empowering Perspectives

Welcome to "Her New Lens," a podcast designed to encourage a shift in perspective and help listeners see life, love, and themselves in an empowering new light. I’m Tricia Rose Stone, a Wayfinder life coach dedicated to guiding women towards finding the love they seek, starting from within. In this blog post, adapted from the latest podcast episode, I’ll delve into the inspirations and transformative insights that underlie this journey of perspective.

The Power of Perspective

A pivotal moment in my journey began with a quote by Anais Nin that I stumbled upon on Instagram: "We don't see things as they are. We see them as we are." This notion intrigued me, prompting me to ponder its depth and meaning. Over time, revisiting this quote helped me realize the power we hold in viewing the world through different lenses.

Years later, while sitting at the Boston Athenaeum, I encountered a book by Anais Nin, and there was the quote again. I let its significance sink in, recognizing how our perceptions can limit or expand our world. It clarified my purpose: to help others reclaim their power to see things differently, thereby transforming their realities.

A Lesson from Personal Experience

My background as an optometrist lends a unique perspective to this work. For over two decades, I helped patients see clearly through physical lenses. This skill parallels helping clients adjust the metaphorical lenses through which they view life. Life’s unexpected turns led me to pursue this deeper, more meaningful exploration of perspective.

Imprinting and Shaping Our Worldview

In a world broadcast by experiences and upbringing, how we perceive life is often imprinted at a young age. Our family and environment shape the lenses through which we see the world. The good news? We can adjust these lenses for a future more aligned with our desires and aspirations, even if just a degree at a time. This gradual shift can lead to significant transformational outcomes.

The Art of Reclaiming Power

Wayne Dyer once said, "If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." This concept echoes in my coaching practice. Everyone views the world differently, and harnessing this awareness can aid personal growth. Adapting our perspectives becomes a tool for achieving desired outcomes and nurturing relationships.

I assist clients in navigating life changes by identifying how their perspectives shape their experiences. By fostering openness and curiosity, they become empowered to attract fulfilling relationships or smoothly transition through life’s phases.

A Moment of Reflection

Victor Frankl's profound words—"Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom"—echo the essence of perspective work. This space of choice represents the new lens through which we reframe our situations, acting as a catalyst for change and personal empowerment.
